How to install P48 Incremental angle encoder with integral bearing built-in stator encoder?

Recently, our company has newly developed the P series encoders, from the original P48 to the later PN58, PC58, PN72. More and more models are available to meet the needs of customers.

 First, let's briefly introduce the P series. 

The P series is also an incremental type encoder, but in terms of thickness, compared to the original K series, the P series is lighter and thinner, and can be applied to robots, servo motors, etc. After the customer purchases our P series, installation may become the first challenge the customer faces.

 So how do customers install it after receiving the goods? Here we will explain in detail.

P48 encoder is a unique design with a photoelectric introduction ultra-thin overall structure, very simple and easy to install and debug. High speed mode and various of shaft holes can selected, perfectly solve the installation problems for users in limited spaces. With outer diameter 48mm and thickness 11mm, diameter of shaft is up to 14mm. All P series will be equipped with a wrench, which is convenient for customers to install.

If you ordered the P48 encoder with UVW signal,

 first step is to confirm the starting zero position of the motor and lock it tightly before installing the encoder, to ensure the motor shaft wont moving until the encoder completed installation. And put the encoder (2) directly on the motor shaft and gently push it to the motor platform by hand. Screwed the two M2.5*12 bolts(3). No need to be too tight, just enough to turn the encoder by hand.

Second step is to put the wrench (A) on the slot of the encoders shaft shaft sleeve, hold it with your hand then tighten the lock-nut with the wrench (B). The recommended tightening force is 1.8nm. When tightening the lock-nut, make sure to compact the encoder onto the motor platform.

The third part is to connect the encoder signal wires, power on, and connect to the oscilloscope or other testing equipment which can read the zero signal of the motor and encoder. Turn the encode (2) from left to right and observe the testing equipment until the zero position of the encoder is aligned with the zero position signal of the encoder, then tighten the two M2.5*12 bolts(3).


If you ordered the P48 encoder without UVW signal, 

first step is to put the encoder (2) directly on the motor shaft and gently push it to the motor platform by hand. Screwed the two M2.5*12 bolts(3), no need to be too tight, just enough to turn the encoder by hand.


The second step is to put the wrench (A) on the slot of the encoders shaft sleeve, hold it with your hand then tighten the lock-nut with the wrench (B). The recommended tightening force is 1.8nm. When tightening the lock-nut, make sure to compact the encoder onto the motor platform.
