What is Sincos encoder?
A SinCos encoder (Sine-Cosine encoder) is a high-precision rotary encoder that outputs two analog signals—sine (Sin) and cosine (Cos) waves—to represent angular position. Unlike digital encoders that provide discrete pulses, SinCos encoders deliver continuous analog signals, enabling ultra-fine resolution and smooth motion control in advanced applications.
✔ High Resolution – Interpolatable signals allow for sub-micron precision, far exceeding standard incremental encoders.
✔ Smooth Motion Control – Analog output eliminates "step effects," critical for CNC machines, robotics, and semiconductor equipment.
✔ Versatile Signal Processing – Compatible with digital converters (RDC) and servo drives for flexible integration.
✔ Noise Immunity – Differential signal transmission (Sin+, Sin-, Cos+, Cos-) reduces EMI interference in industrial environments.
A rotating disc with fine optical/magnetic patterns generates sinusoidal waveforms as it moves.
The sensor produces two 90° phase-shifted signals (Sin & Cos), representing the shaft’s exact angular position.
The control system interpolates these signals to calculate speed, direction, and absolute position with extreme accuracy.
